CFT considers three systems - Threat, Drive and Soothe and how despite these systems always being present - they sometimes get stuck in our modern world. 


It acknowledges that we have 'tricky brains' that can sometimes bring out difficult parts of us- like self criticism- but through exploration of our experiences and influences, we can begin to understand how it absolutely makes sense that we do what we do, and find ways to change this if it would be helpful.
